Clearly, producing meat in a free-range or outdoor reared system is a far more ethical method of producing meat, allowing the animal to have a “happy” life whilst growing and being prepared for slaughter.
The taste of this meat is also far superior to its mass produced counterparts and whilst usually being more expensive to purchase, most cuts can be used for more than one meal (for example a free-range chicken, can be roasted or dejointed for a dish, with the main carcass then being used to make a delicious stock for a chicken noodle soup).
